Japan Airlines Mileage Bank Extends FLYON Status Through March 2022

Japan Airlines has also decided to extend Mileage Bank FLYON tier status by 12 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

JAL - Japan Airlines

The FLYON status that members reached in 2019 and was going to expire on March 31, 2021, is now extended by a year.

You can access JAL’s page for the announcement here.

If a member reaches a higher tier based on his/her 2020 activity, it will be valid through March 31, 2022.

Here’s the information that JAL has released (Google translate from Japanese):

Thank you for using the JAL Group.

Recently, due to the spread of the new coronavirus, an emergency situation was announced in Japan, making it difficult for both overseas and domestic travel.
The JAL Group is also canceling routes and reducing flights, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

I am afraid that everyone is having a hard time forecasting their future, and spending their time worried about their anxiety, making it difficult for them to plan their trips and business trips.
Under such circumstances, we hope that you can feel a little safe.

We will extend the FY2020 FLY ON status (validity period: end of March 2021), which was achieved by boarding from January to December 2019, for one year until FY2021 (validity period: end of March 2022).

It turns out that both ANA and JAL extended their member tiers by a year precisely on the same date (last week). Their English announcements are still forthcoming.

I am glad that Japan Airlines has come to the same conclusion as most other airlines that this coronavirus is grounding flights for an extended period, and as a result, extended Mileage Bank members FLYON status by a year.
