Accor Reservation Cancellation Covid-19 Policy Update (April 29, 2020)

Accor has updated (again) its coronavirus cancellation policy as of Wednesday (April 29, 2020) but didn’t push it to their website before yesterday (Thursday).

Accor’s Global Policy, with many exceptions, is now valid for stays through June 30, 2020. Guests are no longer eligible for REFUNDS but reservation MODIFICATIONS. Competitors are offering refunds for stays through June 30th.

The global policy is now valid for stays through June 30, 2020, from May 1st (previous deadline). The Middle East & Africa has been broken up.

Spain, Italy, Netherlands, United Kingdon, Ireland, Belgium, and Luxembourg have separate dates in May until which you can cancel or modify your reservation (no cash refunds).

The safety and wellbeing of our guests is our top priority and because changes are ongoing and unforeseeable due to COVID-19, we have implemented a cancellation policy to provide you with increased flexibility.

Booked a flexible rate directly with Accor?

Guest who booked fully refundable rates can cancel or modify their reservations without penalties on all.accor.co

Booked a non-flexible rate directly with Accor and need to modify?

Guests who booked a non-flexible rate directly with Accor (Note: country exceptions below) for travel through June 30, 2020 (inclusive) may Modify their reservation without any modification fees (subject to availability and applicable rates and conditions) by contacting the hotel directly.

Note: Guests requesting refunds of any kind (i.e. cash or credit voucher) may take up to 90 days from the date of cancellation to be processed. The form and timing of the requested refund may be subject to applicable laws where each hotel is located (i.e. Government imposed restrictions on vouchers and cash refunds).

The following country exceptions apply:

For hotels in Singapore:
•    For a reservation (including Group Bookings) made before March 25, 2020 (inclusive), with the stay between February 1, 2020  and October 19, 2020 (inclusive), guests may cancel their reservation and be refunded without penalty. To cancel your reservation and process the refund, please contact the hotel directly.

For hotels in the Middle East and Africa (Except Morocco, Algeria, Ivory Coast):
•    For a stay between March 17th, 2020 and June 30th (inclusive), 2020, guests may modify their reservation for a future date to May 31st, 2021 without any modification fees (subject to availability and applicable rates and conditions) or cancel their reservation and be refunded without penalty by contacting the hotel directly.

For hotels in Morocco, Algeria, Ivory Coast:
•    For a stay planned between March 17th, 2020 and June 30, 2020 (inclusive), guests may modify their reservation for a future date to May 31st, 2021 without any modification fees (subject to availability and applicable rates and conditions) by contacting the hotel directly.

Hotels in Europe

For hotels in Belgium & Luxembourg:
•    For a stay planned between March 17th, 2020 and May 10th, 2020 (inclusive), guests may modify their reservation for a future date to May 31st, 2021 without any modification fees (subject to availability and applicable rates and conditions) or cancel their reservation and be refunded without penalty by contacting the hotel directly.

For hotels in the United Kingdom & Ireland:
•    For a stay planned between March 17th, 2020 and May 6th, 2020 (inclusive), guests may modify their reservation for a future date to May 31st, 2021 without any modification fees (subject to availability and applicable rates and conditions) or cancel their reservation and be refunded without penalty by contacting the hotel directly.

For hotels in the Netherlands:
•    For a stay planned between March 17th, 2020 and May 20th, 2020 (inclusive), guests may modify their reservation for a future date to May 31st, 2021 without any modification fees (subject to availability and applicable rates and conditions) or cancel their reservation and be refunded without penalty by contacting the hotel directly.

For hotels in France (including all overseas regions):
•    For a stay cancelled between March 1st, 2020 and September 15th, 2020 inclusive, guests may receive a credit voucher only for all cancellations for the full value of their reservation for use at the same hotel by contacting the hotel directly.

For hotels in Italy:
•    For a stay scheduled between March 1st, 2020 and May 3, 2020 inclusive, guests may cancel their reservations and receive a credit voucher only for the full value of their reservation for use at the same hotel by contacting the hotel directly.

For hotels in Spain:
•    For a stay scheduled between March 17, 2020 and May 9, 2020 inclusive, guests may, if they accept it, cancel their reservations and receive a credit voucher only for the full value of their reservation for use at the same hotel by contacting the hotel directly.

For hotels in Portugal:
•    For a stay scheduled between March 13, 2020 and September 30, 2020 (inclusive), guests may, if they accept it, cancel their reservations and receive a credit voucher only for the full value of their reservation for use at the same hotel by contacting the hotel directly.

For hotels in Greece:
•    For a stay cancelled between February 25, 2020 and September 30, 2020 inclusive, guests may receive a credit voucher only for all cancellations for the full value of their reservation for use at the same hotel by contacting the hotel directly.

Note: Guests requesting refunds of any kind (i.e. cash or credit voucher) may take up to 90 days from the date of cancellation to be processed. Conclusion

Accor still lacks a coherent worldwide cancellation policy (competitors all do). Right now, the policy for Italy expires this Sunday, yet the country is not open even for local travel yet. There are several other European countries with policies expiring in the next couple of weeks that all need to be updated.
