Air Canada Aeroplan Miles Sale At Up To 115% Bonus May 7 – 13, 2020

Air Canada’s Aeroplan program enabled buying miles back in March (read more here) and is about to launch its first-ever sale on Thursday at 10 AM ET.

Aeroplan is selling the first 10 million miles with a 115% bonus, the next 100 million miles with 90%, and after this with 65%.

You can access this offer on Air Canada’s website here.

The price of a mile in USD is from 1 to 1.3 cents each. Note that you can buy up to 250,000 miles per purchase before the bonus, and up to half a million in a year (before bonus).

Here’s information about the sale:

Starting May 7 at 10:00 am ET until May 13 at 11:59 pm ET, Aeroplan members will be able to buy miles and receive bonus miles on their purchase:

  1. For the first 10 million Aeroplan Miles sold, members get a 115% bonus; equivalent to $0.014 CAD/mile + sales tax OR $0.01 USD/mile;
  2. The next 100 million miles sold, members get a bonus of 90%; equivalent to $0.016 CAD/mile + sales tax + $0.011 USD/mile.
  3. All miles sold after this will get a bonus of 65%; equivalent to $0.018 CAD/mile + sales tax OR + $0.013 USD/mile

To further highlight the value, it is worth noting that all Buy Miles transactions made with US based cards with a US billing address are not subject to sales tax, so subject to exchange rate fluctuations at launch, when considered together with the bonus miles earned, the first 10 million Aeroplan Miles sold will be available at a rate of approximately USD 0.01 per mile – a truly exceptional value.

Furthermore, the per transaction limit of 250,000 miles and annual limit of 500,000 miles are applicable to the base miles purchased only, and therefore the bonus miles awarded do not count towards these limits. (You need to be an Aeroplan member to take advantage of this promotion.

Conclusion

This is about the lowest price per mile that you can buy of all major programs, but you have to keep in mind that programs have different requirements when using them.

Aeroplan would have had this offer back in March when they launched the sale, but it was delayed due to the pandemic. Remember that part of these miles can count towards your Air Canada elite status per their current offer (read more here).
