American Airlines Status Extensions Through January 2022 Processed

American Airlines has now processed elite status extension through to January 2022, as was announced in early April (read more here) due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This extension also included those of us who got the status based on a partnership that American Airlines and Hyatt formed last year (read more herehere and here).

You can access our comprehensive list of all status extensions due to coronavirus here.

American Airlines already earlier pushed a notification about the extension:

Here’s the AA/Hyatt promo that was awarding EXP tiers:

Conclusion

Extending status for everyone does make sense. Those of us who got the Executive Platinum status based on Hyatt partnership couldn’t otherwise use it.

I have lifetime Platinum (Oneworld Sapphire) from American Airlines due to flying with the airline when I was living in the states plus crediting quite a few Marriott (then good) Travel Packages into the AAdvantage (all incoming miles counted towards the million miler).

It does make sense to sign up for these offers because you never know what other opportunities they may open up down the road in terms of bonus points, miles, and status match/extension opportunities.
