Air Canada’s Aeroplan program enabled buying miles back in March (read more here) and launched its first-ever sale on Thursday last week (that encountered few difficulties due to overwhelming demand).
Aeroplan sold its miles at 115% and 90% bonuses that were quickly depleted. Members can still buy them with a 65% bonus until Friday (May 15, 2020).

Conclusion
Air Canada and Aeroplan appear to have been quite successful with this sale based on the response it received. Systems went down due to too many simultaneous website users, and Aeroplan ended up extending the 90% bonus to many that didn’t initially qualify for it (read more here).

The following Terms and Conditions apply to the Travel at Home Buy Miles Offer open to Aeroplan Members (this “Offer”) and will take place from 10:00 AM ET on May 7, 2020 to 11:59 PM ET on May 15, 2020 (the “Offer Period”):

2. “Eligible Aeroplan Miles” mean Aeroplan Miles bought by an Eligible Participant during the Offer Period pursuant to the Buy Miles Program, part of the Aeroplan Program. Please visit the following link for any information on the Buy Miles Program: https://www.aeroplan.com/buy-gift-miles.do#/.
3. A minimum of 1,000 Aeroplan Miles and a maximum of 300,000 Aeroplan Miles can be purchased per transaction for this Offer. A maximum of 500,000 Aeroplan Miles can be purchased per calendar year.
4. Bonus Aeroplan Miles awarded through this Offer do not count toward the 300,000 Aeroplan Miles transaction limit per Aeroplan account, nor do they count towards the 500,000 Aeroplan Miles calendar year limit.
5. Through this Offer, Eligible Participants can obtain the following Bonus Aeroplan Miles, which are calculated based on the Eligible Aeroplan Miles purchase by an Eligible Participant during the Offer Period:

6. Please allow up to 72 hours after purchase for Eligible Aeroplan Miles and Bonus Aeroplan Miles to be deposited in your Aeroplan account.

9. 11. Aeroplan will donate 1 million Aeroplan Miles to one of the Aeroplan Member Donation Program charities charities. Our partner Points will also donate to one of the charities of the Aeroplan Member Donation Program as part of this Offer.
12. This Offer is subject to change at Air Canada or Aeroplan’s sole discretion without notice.
13. Aeroplan or Air Canada reserves the right at their sole discretion to disqualify any individual from this Offer and to ban the individual from any future offers that it finds or believes to be tampering with the process or the operation of this Offer, to be acting in violation of these Terms and Conditions or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. Any attempt by a member or any other person to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of this Offer is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Aeroplan or Air Canada reserves the right to seek damages from any such person.
