Marriott eGiftCards Purchase Problems?


Marriott launched an offer this past Monday (read more here) to get some much-needed cash by selling electronic Gift Cards at a discount for 7-days that ends today.

Members can buy an unlimited number (only per purchase limit) at 20% off that can be used for all expenses at hotels (cannot be used towards prepaid reservations). I purchased them on Friday but still haven’t received the cards.

UPDATE: It appears that Marriott may have changed the delivery guideline from 1 – 3 to 1 – 7 business days:



Loaded the cart with 5 $1,000 gift cards:

Completed the payment:

Website order confirmation:

Received an email:

The email shows the authorization code from the bank, and the transaction shows as pending on the credit card.


The Marriott’s web page states that these gift cards are sent within 1 to 3 days of purchase. My three days are already gone (I prepared some of these images yesterday).

Not sure how much manual labor there is with the issuance of these electronic gift cards, but I cannot remember their issuance to have been instantaneous in the past either (bought some last time like 10+ years ago). It appears that they are using the same old processes.

Well. If some reason Marriott decides to decline the purchase, not a loss for me.
