United Airlines has launched a new MileagePlus buy miles sale that comes with a member-specific bonus. The offer is valid through May 29, 2020. You can check your bonus or discount offer on United’s website here.
United Airlines has promotions every month for buying miles, but they all max out at a 100% bonus or a 50% discount (the same offer because United usually limits the number of miles one can purchase per year, including any possible bonuses to 175K).

The cost of a mile under this offer is 2 cents each.
Does it make sense to purchase the United miles?
If you use them for international business or first-class tickets between expensive city pairs, then the answer is likely yes. United stopped publishing award charts last year but recently launched a website that featured award deals (read more here), and Star Alliance charts are now gone as well (read more here).
Conclusion
United just recently sold its miles with a `100% bonus that has been the best offer for years. Unless you need miles now and your offer is not a 100% bonus, I would wait.
Buying United miles can still make sense if you use them towards expensive premium cabin international awards.
