IHG Suspends Ambassador ‘Benefits Guarantee’ May 30 – June 30, 2020

IHG introduced Ambassador “Benefits Guarantee” in early 2019 (read more here) that allows cheap InterContinentals to deposit a small number of points instead of providing supposedly FIRM benefits.

Now, IHG has decided to suspend this guarantee for a month from May 30 until June 30, 2020. Not sure why now and not earlier?

You can access IHG’s page for Covid-19 response here.

The Ambassador ‘Benefits Guarantee’ is suspended for stays up to and including June 30, 2020, due to COVID-19-related operational constraints.

Reader Question: “Guaranteed” Ambassador Upgrades At Tokyo InterContinentals In 2019? (Hotels Have Given 10,000 Points Instead)

Someone must have woken up at the Ambassador team at the IHG HQ and decided that they need to put out a notice officially that these are not guaranteed for a month.

You can always count that those good hotels provide the benefits and more than the absolute minimum required by the program, while the not so good ones always try to find a way to screw the member.
