Hilton Auction Experiences Running Dry? Now Used For Boat Transfers?

Hilton has allowed members to redeem Honors points for various events and experiences for a couple of years.

It seems that these “experiences” are running dry during these challenging times when hotels are allowed to dump their boat transfers to this platform like what Waldorf-Astoria Maldives has done.

Here’s how Waldorf-Astoria Maldives describes this experience:

Experience Details

Nestled among white sands and crystal blue waters, the elegant Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi is a mere 45 minutes away by yacht to Velana International Airport. Start your trip off in true luxury with round-trip transfer between the airport and the resort on their private yacht. Enjoy a light snack, a selection of beverages or relax in one of the bedrooms. Equipped with two decks, the yacht is designed for the ultimate relaxation and pampering en route to your destination.

This experience for one (1) adult includes:

Please note this package does not include rail, airfare or hotel accommodations.

Conclusion

This yacht transfer is truly an experience! The clueless hotel staff first dumps you to a coffee shop or food court at the airport while consolidating guests from various flights while the hotel claims that they don’t do this.

I was supposed to stay at this hotel for 10 nights last year but ended up leaving and moving to the far superior (service wise) W after three.

Perhaps this “experience” (using points for a transfer) can make sense for those that have an unlimited number of Hilton Honors points and don’t care at all at what $ value they redeem them at.
