IHG has now had a website issue that prevents direct bookings going on for weeks and no resolution in sight.
When you try to confirm a booking, an error message pops up that asks you to contact the hotel company by calling in.

You just get the message:
An error has occurred. Please contact your nearest reservation office and a representative will be able to assist you.
I guess that IHG here is trying to get potential guests to book using third party OTAs such as Orbitz or Booking.com? Have they furloughed all the employees at their department that can fix and resolve website issues?
You would think that fixing an issue that prevents direct bookings on its website would be a high priority, but perhaps not. I guess that it is easier to get bailout cash from UK taxpayers.
If you have to call in to make a booking, I instead open another window and book with Accor, Hilton, Hyatt, or Marriott that all allow members to book on their respective websites.
You could always book using the app, but I won’t because it won’t show all the available rate plans, and comparing various rates is harder (obviously on purpose).
