Best Western quietly changed its face mask policy on Friday night, requiring guests in the United States and Canada to wear one starting on July 28, 2020.
Hilton (read more here), Hyatt (read more here), IHG (Read more here), and Marriott (read more here) plus practically all US airlines now require guests and passengers to wear one to combat the spread of Covid-19.
You can access Best Western’s page for Covid-19 response here.
Here’s the face mask update:
In accordance with guidance from the CDC and Health Canada and/or in compliance with government regulations, effective July 28 face coverings are required in hotel indoor public areas in the United States and Canada. Thank you for understanding and extending this courtesy to your fellow guests and our associates during the pandemic.
I believe that only Choice and Wyndham are the two chains, which we cover, with significant US presence that don’t have the mask requirement in place yet. I would assume that they do have soon.
There is evidence that wearing the mask will reduce the spread of aerosols and hence Covid-19. It takes some time to get used to wearing one, but it is more comfortable than being on a ventilator.
