Qatar Airways has today changed how long its Privilege Club miles are valid for moving away from firm expiry after a set time.
Now, Privilege Club miles never expire as long as there is any activity in your account within 36 months.
You can access Qatar’s page for the announcement here.
Here’s a copy of the email that Qatar sent out:
John, we begin a journey of change, where your loyalty is aptly rewarded and each well-earned Qmile is more powerful, taking you further than ever before.
We begin our journey together by extending the life of Qmiles. Starting today, Qmiles will last longer than ever before. Every time you spend or earn a Qmile, your balance will be valid for a further 36 months.
Simply login to keep up to date with your latest Qmiles balance. Start earning or spending today to keep your Qmiles balance active for even longer.
Looking ahead, we will continue to perfect our Privilege Club for you, with each step more rewarding than the last.
A Privilege Club that exceeds your expectations from the airline you can rely on.
Conclusion
Qatar Airways has had a change of heart when it comes to its Privilege Club frequent flier program. They have introduced a few changes this year that genuinely benefit program members (after trashing it a couple of years ago with endless devaluations and rule changes).
I guess that it may help during challenging times when and if you have determined group of frequent fliers buying tickets and flying on the airline (if they are allowed to enter anywhere).
You may like flying on Qatar Airways, but I would still question whether Privilege Club is the right place to credit the flights compared to AA’s AAdvantage or BA’s Executive Club.
