Finnair Plus has points sales several times per year and currently has a 25% to 35% discount for buying points through September 16, 2020.
The sweet spot on Finnair’s award chart is the short-haul upgrades from Economy to Business class (Dubai and Tel Aviv are both considered short-haul) that are priced at 10,000 points (sometimes even these are discounted).
You can access Finnair’s page for buying points here.
Here’s the discount schedule:
- Finnair Plus Basic = 25% discount
- Finnair Plus Silver = 30% discount
- Finnair Plus Gold, Platinum and Platinum Lumo = 35% discount
And here’s the price at 25% off:
The price of a Finnair Plus point under this offer is 0.97 euro cents each (fraction of a cent).
I would only buy Finnair Plus points if I were 100% sure I’d be able to use them for short-haul upgrades or business awards where they are excellent value compared to paid upgrade prices or paying for business class outright.
Finnair Plus has sold it points at up to 100% bonus this year. I would not buy any right now but would wait for a better offer to surface.
Here are the terms and conditions of this offer:
Transactions must be completed between 20 August (00:00:01 EEST) and 16 September (23:59:59 EEST) 2020 to receive the discount on Finnair Plus Points. The discount is only eligible on transactions of 5,000 Points and above. The discount rate depends on your tier status during the promotion period. Whilst the promotion is active (20 August–16 September), Finnair Plus Members may purchase or receive up to 150,000 Points in the calendar year. Finnair Plus Points will be awarded to the recipient. All other Buy/Gift Finnair Plus Points terms and conditions apply.
