United Airlines MileagePlus Buy Miles 100% Bonus 7-Day Sale Until September 16, 2020

United Airlines has launched a MileagePlus buy miles 7-day Sale that comes with an up to 100% bonus. The offer is valid through September 16, and you can check your bonus or discount offer on United’s website here.

United Airlines has promotions monthly for buying miles, but they all max out at a 100% bonus or a 50% discount (the same offer because United usually limits the number of miles one can purchase per year, including any possible bonuses now to 225K).

Note that the previous yearly maximum for buying United Airlines miles has been 175,000 for some time. It seems that this has now been raised to 225,000.

The cost of a mile under this offer is 1.75 cents each.

Does it make sense to purchase the United miles?

If you use them for international business or first-class tickets between expensive city pairs, then the answer is likely yes. United stopped publishing award charts last year but recently launched a website that featured award deals (read more here), and Star Alliance charts are now gone as well (read more here).

United has now been selling miles almost monthly at a 100% bonus.

It can make sense to buy if you can redeem for an international premium cabin award, and you can always redeposit the miles (with or without a fee) if there are travel restrictions or bands in place or last-minute other changes.
