Fraudulent Emails Offering Two Free Marriott Nights

Fraudsters are now targeting Marriott Bonvoy members, offering them two-night voucher for a stay at any Marriott hotels due to a “recent hack.”

The email is referring to two recent hacks (read more here and here) that allowed unauthorized third parties to vacuum hundred of millions of guest records.

Note that these emails that have been sent as if they would come from Marriott are fraudulent. Whoever is behind them is probably trying to get access to your Marriott Bonvoy account, and then use any points you may have sitting there.

Conclusion

My advice always is that if something appears to be too good to be true, it likely is.

Marriott Bonvoy won’t be giving any free nights for exposed members (there are millions of them), but rather is being fined by a regulator or two.

I have to say that the email above is quite creative, but not done in the right tone. Perhaps if they had offered a free category 1 -3 night…
