Turkish Airlines is becoming one of the airlines that have decided to discontinue sending out physical membership cards.
Miles&Smiles members won’t receive new membership cards effective immediately but can access theirs using a smartphone app.
You can access Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles here.
Here’s the email that Turkish sent out:
To offer you the best service every day, we are closely following the technological advances. As a result of our work aiming at keeping pace with the gradually digitalizing world, we have stopped sending Miles&Smiles cards. Now you can access your digital Miles& Smiles card offering you all the advantages and features of your physical card over our Turkish Airlines mobil application and enjoy your digital card experience.
These are nice mementos that you usually come across when doing annual “cleaning.” I have tried to trash old cards that I have no use for.
Membership cards have only been useful to me if I have one airline for crediting purposes and another for lounge/alliance wide benefits.
I did this most recently in Sydney, where I credited business class flight to Alaska while accessing the fantastic Qantas first-class lounge based on my BA Gold (Oneworld Emerald).
