Aegean has now joined many airlines that have lowered tier qualification and requalification requirements due to the on-going Covid-19 pandemic.

Miles+Bonus members can retain or reach a higher tier by 25% fewer elite miles between September 29, 2020 and September 29, 2021.

You can access Aegean’s page for the new requirements here.

Miles+Bonus members can now purchase up to 5,000 tier qualification miles, previously a maximum of 3,000, and get a 25% discount.

Here are the new tier requirements until September 29, 2021:

Tier Miles on Sale:

When looking at my tier status with Aegean, I cannot see anything that would have changed over the past week or so.

I still would need 2,275 with four Aegean segments or 17, 275 without any. If I decide to credit my recent Lufthansa purchase (read more here), the one segment to Sao Paulo would take care of this.

Whether to buy tier miles? I guess that it depends on each own situation. If you are close to Gold while being a Silver, it can make sense. Star Alliance Gold benefits are meaningful (nothing really at the Silver level alliance wide).
