Icelandair introduced back in March Bonus Tier Credits that allow Saga Club members to keep their status intact during this difficult Covid-19 travel environment.
Saga Club credits member accounts monthly the average number of Tier Credits that the member has earned over the previous 12 months prior to March 2020.
You can access Icelandair here.
Here’s the announcement from the airline:
Dear Saga Club member,
In March 2020, we introduced the Bonus Tier Credits to support you during the time of reduced travelling due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. As the situation is unchanged and our flight activities remain restricted, this support is extended until further notice.
We will continue to add Bonus Tier Credits to your account on a monthly basis. The amount of Bonus Tier Credits you will receive is the average Tier Credits you earned for Icelandair flights over the 12 months prior to March 2020.
Please bear in mind that Tier Credits determine whether you are eligible for the status of Saga Silver or Saga Gold membership, and you earn them for flying Icelandair scheduled flights.
We continue to monitor the situation and will keep you updated as things progress.
We value your loyalty and look forward to seeing you on board again soon.
Icelandair extends the Tier Credit Support indefinitely, which likely makes sense. But wouldn’t it have been easier to extend everyone’s tier by a year or two?
