World Of Hyatt Buy Points Campaign With 30% Bonus Through November 24, 2020

World of Hyatt has just launched yet another promotion to buy Hyatt points at a 30% bonus through November 24, 2020 for purchases of 5,000 points and up.

Members can buy up to 55,000 points every calendar year before any possible bonuses. Hyatt has several opportunities for buying points throughout the year, but they usually offer a maximum of 40% bonus.

You can access this offer and check your bonus on Hyatt’s website here.

This is the pricing at 30% bonus (minimum 5,000) :

The cost of a World of Hyatt point purchased under this offer at 30% bonus is 1.85 cents each. The lowest price during the usual bonus or discount sales is 1.71 cents each.

Does it make sense to purchase points at this rate?

It only makes sense if you use them at costly Hyatt properties such as the Park Hyatt Maldives, Kyoto or Paris although sometimes the lower classed properties can often make sense as well when the paid rates are high. Otherwise buying at such a high price makes only limited sense especially since in the current travel climate you should be able to get great deals at most hotels.

Award rooms with Hyatt are available as long as standard rooms are available for sale. This means that points are usually a good value if something is going on in the city that brings the paid rates throughout the roof.

Keep in mind that revenue rates at hotels are currently crashing in most instances due to lack of demand and that it might make most sense to first check paid rates before jumping on points sales. Point redemption rates have remained static (high) while advertised rates in some cases came down 60-70%.

Conclusion

Hyatt sells points several times throughout the year, and the bonus usually maxes at 40%. If you don’t need World of Hyatt points right now, you can save and buy more during these frequent sales at a later time. There should also be another Discover America promotion sometime this year but so far it hasn’t been announced.

Not sure why Hyatt caps their points sales at 55,000 points because their points aren’t exactly cheap as can be seen here and there are only limited ways where it makes sense to buy points in order to book stays with them at such rates.
