Australia, one of the few democratic countries that prevent citizens from leaving, has extended the outbound travel ban by three months through March 17, 2021 (likely going to be extended further).
There are still Australians stranded overseas that have not been able to secure flights or limited quarantine spots.
Here’s the announcement:
Qantas doesn’t plan to operate any significant number of international flights before late 2021.
The number of incoming passengers is greatly limited due to the number of quarantine rooms required at each gateway city.
I would assume that Australia’s entry and exit bans will stay placed until there is Covid-19 herd immunity by vaccine or population infections (or both).
