IHG has received a lot of heat lately for not extending the free night certificates issued to select credit cardholders.
IHG Rewards Club customer service in the Philippines has blamed Chase for not allowing them to extend certificates when the expiry date of similar free nights issued from Chase to World of Hyatt and Marriott Bonvoy members have been pushed well into 2021.

We have been in touch with IHG regarding this certificate extension issue several times. The most recent tidbit we received was that the announcement would be “Coming Soon.”

Hilton Honors has extended all free night certificate expiry dates through August 31, 2021.
World of Hyatt
All existing certificates have been extended through the end of 2021.
Marriott Bonvoy has extended all free night certificates expiring in 2020 through July 31, 2021, and Travel Package certificates until August 31.
Here’s our previous coverage:
I guess that extending these late into the year is better than never and let them expire, but IHG would have earned a lot of goodwill like is the case with Hilton, Hyatt, and Marriott if they had done it timely.
