Avianca LifeMiles has launched a new offer to transfer LifeMiles between accounts in combination with a bonus of 125% in the process, deposited into the receiving account.
LifeMiles members can transfer miles with a 125% bonus to other members (you send 1,000, and the recipient gets 2,250) through December 30, 2020.
You can access Avianca’s page for transferring miles here.
There fee is $15 for every 1,000 miles transferred and the recipient will get 2,250 miles credited. The price of a newly minted LifeMile (one) under this offer is 1.2 US cents each ($15/1,250).
This is an interesting option to consolidate a few accounts and also renew the expiration date in the process.
This transfer campaign offer allows members essentially to create additional miles through the bonus while the fee per 1000 miles transfer remained the same.
Remember that Avianca has filed for bankruptcy protection. It is unclear when and how the airline will come through the reorganization. LifeMiles is a separate company, not in bankruptcy. There is very little value for a member or potential buyer if the airline behind the program ceases to exist as could be seen with Air Berlin Topbonus.
I could consider buying LifeMiles if you have use for them in the next few months, the award availability exists using LifeMiles and you can issue the award ticket right away.
