Avianca paused the expiry of its LifeMiles in April through December 31, 2020 (read more here).

The airline, which is in bankruptcy protection/reorganization, appears to have extended the expiry through July 31, 2021, based on an email sent to members.

Conclusion

I have a small number of LifeMiles sitting in my account from a points purchase/transfers done years ago. The most recent 200% bonus sales haven’t enticed me to buy any due to issues surrounding the airline and how reliable LifeMiles award bookings are if there are any issues.

However, it is good that LifeMiles has decided to postpone the expiry of the miles that will benefit them in the long term.
