LATAM Pass last week reduced the number of award miles (or points) you earn from its flights by up to 40% (read more here), but there we some other news too.
LATAM Pass members earn double elite Qualifying Points January 1 – March 31, 2021, and the airline also reduced the qualification requirements by 30% and launched yet another elite tier.
You can access LATAM here.
Reduced elite qualification requirement in 2021:
The 30% drop in goals for Qualifying Points and Segments that you need to access an Elite category during 2022 is now extended until December 2021.
You can reach the current or higher tier with 30% fewer Qualifying Points or Segments in 2021.
Double Qualifying Points January – March 2021
All the Qualifying Points you accumulate on your flights between January and March 2021 will be multiplied by 2.
LATAM Pass will double the Qualifying Points, but not segments, on flights taken January 1 – March 31, 2021.
New Gold Plus-tier
Free seat selection and Preferential Check-in for Gold and Gold Plus members
Preferential boarding for Gold members when traveling with Light, Plus and Top fares.
LATAM Pass introduces the FIFTH elite tier.
Lower elite qualifying requirements in 2021 do make sense, but why not double segments in addition to the Qualifying Points in the first three months of next year? Does LATAM Pass really need a FIFTH elite tier with very little differentiation in between them?
Here’s the small print:
– All qualifying points accumulated for tickets with a flight date between January 1st, 2021 and March 31st, 2021 will be multiplied by two, which will allow customers to maintain or improve their Elite LATAM Pass category. This promotion does not apply to the qualifying segments rule or to tickets already redeemed. For example, if you accumulate 100 qualifying points and 5 qualifying segments between January and March 2021, we will credit 200 qualifying points and 5 qualifying segments to your account. This promotion does not apply to qualifying points retroactively charged in this period corresponding to tickets that do not have a flight date between January 1st, 2021 and March 31st, 2021. Any additional qualifying points delivered in this period will be credited in the same time limit as the base qualifying points.
– The 30% drop in goals for Qualifying Points and Segments that you need to access an Elite category is now extended until December 2021.
– The new Elite Benefit of preferential boarding for Gold members does not apply to flights purchased with Basic Economy fare.
