Last Chance: World Of Hyatt Buy Points 25% Off Through December 31, 2020

World of Hyatt has recently launched a promotion to buy points at a 25% off through December 31, 2020 which is tomorrow – the last chance to max out a points purchase allowance for this calendar year.

Members can buy up to 55,000 points every calendar year before any possible bonuses. Hyatt has several opportunities for buying points throughout the year.

You can access this offer and check your bonus on Hyatt’s website here.

The price for the whole lot of 55,000 points at 25% off :

The cost of a World of Hyatt point purchased under this offer at 25% off is 1.8 cents each. The lowest price during the usual bonus or discount sales is 1.71 cents each.

Does it make sense to purchase points at this rate?

It only makes sense if you use them at costly Hyatt properties such as the Park Hyatt Maldives, Kyoto, or Paris, although sometimes the lower classed properties can be a good deal when the paid rates are high.

Otherwise, buying at such a high price makes only limited sense, especially since you should be able to get great deals at most hotels in the current travel climate.

Award rooms with Hyatt are available as long as standard rooms are available for sale. This means that points are usually a good value if something is going on in the city, bringing the paid rates throughout the roof.

Keep in mind that revenue rates at hotels are currently crashing in most instances due to lack of demand and that it might make the most sense to first check paid rates before jumping on points sales.

Point redemption rates have remained static (high) while advertised rates in some cases have come down a lot.

Hyatt sells points several times throughout the year, and the bonus usually maxes at 40%. If you don’t need World of Hyatt points right now, you can save and buy more during these frequent sales at a later time.

Not sure why Hyatt caps their points sales at 55,000 points per calendar year? Their points aren’t exactly cheap, and there are only limited times when it makes sense to buy points to book stays with them. In any case the counter will reset on January 1st.
