Marriott Bonvoy Extra Elite Night Credit + Reduced Ambassador Spend For 2021

Marriott Bonvoy has launched a program that allows members more to reach a higher status in light of the challenging travel environment. Marriott Bonvoy in 2020 extended statuses through February 2022.

Elite members will receive a 50% elite night credit boost based on the status earned in 2020, and the Ambassador spent $20,000 has been reduced by 30% ($14K).

Note that these elite night credits count towards achieving the lifetime status. They are posted to member accounts in February. The Ambassador spend requirement in 2021 is $14,000 instead of $20,000.

Conclusion

This announcement means that Marriott Bonvoy won’t further rollover status but offers half of the nights required to the previously earned tier as a bonus and double elite qualifying nights as part of the next global promotion (see separate piece).

These Elite Night Credits help members to reach 50 and 75 nights thresholds that allow them, to choose one of the Annual Choice Benefit options at 50 and 75 nights.

It is nice that Marriott has decided to lower the spending requirement required for the Ambassador to $14,000 from $20,000.
