A LoyaltyLobby reader dropped us a note that their Lufthansa tier expiry had been extended by a year per the Miles&More policy due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
It is unclear if and when Lufthansa announced what they will do extensions based on activity this year when many countries still ban travel, and there are lockdowns in many parts of Europe.

Conclusion
I don’t believe that there are any other options for most airlines than to extend member tiers by another year in light of the pandemic that still ravages the world, and we likely won’t return to any level of normalcy before 2022.
Let’s see when the European airline starts announcing their loyalty program plans for 2022/2023.
