One the most anticipated hotel openings this year is finally scheduled to come to fruition as the new Virgin Hotel Las Vegas which will also be a member of the Hilton Curio Collection has announced their revised opening date to be Thursday March 25th, 2021.
The hotel was originally scheduled to open on January 15th but due to the Covid situation management has decided to postpone the event by 2 months in order for the resort to open with a bit more glamorous fanfare instead of a Covid-like ghost opening.
Las Vegas and Nevada as a whole is in the final stages to easy their Covid measures again and that means the hotel has a lot more freedoms to make this a fun even, letting guests experience the spirit of the resort.
You can find the website of Virgin Hotels Las Vegas here with all relevant updates.
… Located off-Strip, Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, will be an integrated resort merging a passion for food and beverage with music and culture and feature three hotel towers with over 1,500 Chambers and suites; the 60,000 sq. ft. This is the entire press release:
While the official hotel opening is March 25, 2021 the first room reservation isn’t available until two weeks later on April 7, 2021 and when clicking on the room reservations tool on the hotel website it actually routes you to hilton.com where rates are displayed.
Their rates are not cheap by any means!
The Hilton Honors rate for this property on the midweek opening day is $155 + tax.
From the looks of it at least there isn’t a resort fee attached to this rate otherwise they’d need to disclose it during the booking process.
The choice is either $175.97 all included or 31,000 Hilton Honors points. Personally I’d much prefer to use points in this situation.
Hilton Honors tier members can expect elite treatment corresponding to their status level which is a nice extre at any Las Vegas hotel, although be prepared that Hilton Honors members will always play second fiddle to the Casino VIP’s.
With this addition Hilton boosts it’s presence in Las Vegas having currently the Tropicana as a Casino Hotel, the Elara which used to be a HGVC and the Waldorf Astoria (former Mandarin Oriental). This in addition to a few more Hilton Grand Vacation Clubs and smaller brands. The giant Hilton Las Vegas lost it’s flag years ago.
This is the location:
The location isn’t ideal for Vegas although not terrible either. It’s in the neighborhood of the now closed Hard Rock Las Vegas. I can’t find any information about an active shuttle service to the strip right now.
I have no personal experience with Mohegan Gaming operated casinos as I’m mostly playing at MGM and Wynn. This is something to try out and see how it goes. I’d mostly go to experience the hotel, not to play here.
I’m happy this property will finally see the daylight and it’s definitely one of the hotels I’ve been most excited about. Unfortunately right now it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to be there when it opens but I’m still working on putting a trip together for April/May.
It’s a welcome addition that this hotel is also a Hilton property with the Curio Collection. At least as a Diamond I shouldn’t end up with a basic room regardless of the situation. The resort fee situation is something to watch in the future. There are very few hotels that don’t charge resort fees anymore.
