Qatar Airways run an offer back in May 2020 (read more here) and offered 100,000 free tickets (you only pay actual taxes) for healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, etc.
The demand for tickets was very high, but many were able to get one. There was some question raised about the identification required at the airport (read more here).
You can access this offer on Qatar’s website here.
Covid-19 has been with us for more than a year, and the travel restrictions haven’t been lifted but instead increased as of late. Many medical professionals have been in touch with us and voiced their displeasure that Qatar Airways has not further extended the ticket validity.
Here’s a copy of an email that Qatar Airways sent out:
The ticket validity has now been extended until March 31, 2022, and you must make or amend your existing booking by September 30.
Qatar Airways usually does the right thing at the end, but communication is not their strength (even to us).
I am glad that they have further extended the ticket validity through March 31, 2022, although surely not everyone can make the firm choice by the end of September, considering how this Covid-19 is playing out.
