When I had an overnight stay in Puerto Vallarta last week, I decided to stay (again) at the Holiday Inn Puerto Vallarta Marina & Golf-hotel that is within walking distance from the airport (carry-on only).
I don’t often pay much attention to the notices placed around the hotels, but I was surprised to see the one below due to the type of rooms and suites the hotel has.
You can access Holiday Inn Puerto Vallarta Marina & Golf here.
I decided to have a closer look at the notice placed between the two elevators.
And I couldn’t believe my eyes!
The hotel claims that OUTSIDE FOOD AND BEVERAGES ARE NOT ALLOWED.
Policies such as this are allowed per the spokesperson:
Please note that policies related to outside food and beverage are at the discretion of the hotel, and this hotel is independently owned and operated.
Here are a couple of videos from this hotel:
This policy makes absolutely no sense, and I am almost sure that I have had food delivered to the hotel by one of the services.
How could they even prevent guests from bringing food and beverage items inside their luggage? Are they going to install x-ray machines and confiscate all F&B items that guests may have?
Many hotels encourage guests to use outside F&B outlets, but this Holiday Inn would rather have guests patronizing those open at the hotel (mostly seen them empty at this hotel)
I have not used any of the hotel’s F&B services, even when they gave out complimentary drink and snack vouchers. I like the hotel, though, due to easy access to both Marina and the airport, and very reasonable rates.
