British Airways Executive Club just sent out a Gold Guest List-renewal package to my address in Helsinki for a membership year, during which I had credited ZERO Tier Points to the program just a couple of LATAM flights (no longer qualifying).
This is per BA’s status extension policy that I believe that they need to roll out for at least an additional year due to all the travel bans in place and a limited network of BA flights.
You can access BA here.
Here’s the welcome package:
Tier Points collected during the membership year:
BA has kept extending these upgrade vouchers.
I have zero flights booked with BA due to a lack of network coverage and difficulty in transiting in London.
During the last membership year, I was able to redeem 40K or Avios from the stash I had, mainly for JAL flights within Japan, where I stayed for an extended period.
I am less than 8,000 Tier Points short of lifetime Gold with BA that maps to Oneworld Emerald. I have a lifetime status with American Airlines, earned years ago, but they don’t offer anything higher than Sapphire. I need to get those Tier Points in!
It is already soon mid-2021. It is challenging to see normalcy returning before sometime in 2023, when we should be able to travel mostly freely unless there are new and more challenging Covid-19 mutations coming online.
I have purchased flights with Star Alliance and SkyTeam (hitting Flying Blue entirely within flights to/from and within South America) and renewed my Aegean Miles+Bonus Gold essentially with one Lufthansa First Class-ticket. I have a lifetime Premier Gold (Star Alliance Gold) status with United, but their program has become too devalued to credit any flights to.
It certainly would be my hope to be back on a BA flight soon, but I have nothing booked, and dropping Helsinki doesn’t help.
I do like the Gold Guest List status with BA combined with the upgrade vouchers.
