Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the home of the national airline of Etihad, is not as popular tourism destination as its neighboring Emirate Dubai.
Abu Dhabi has slowly expanded the number of Green countries from which mandatory quarantine of 10 days is not required, and today added the UK to the list, despite the UAE being on the UK’s list of RED countries from which 10-night quarantine is required for returning passengers.
You can access Abu Dhabi’s page for Covid-19 travel here.
All passengers to Abu Dhabi need to provide a negative Covid-19 PCR-RT test performed within 96 hours of departure, get tested upon arrival, and again on days 4 and 8.
Here are the Green countries:
- Hong Kong (SAR)
- New Zealand
- Saudi Arabia
- South Korea
- Taiwan (ROC)
- United Kingdom
Abu Dhabi is a more traditional Emirate than Dubai, but also with good hotels and some sights to see. Most of the tourists, however, head to Dubai and tend to skip Abu Dhabi.
It doesn’t help Abu Dhabi’s hospitality sector that Etihad has pulled back its global ambition and only flies a skeleton network compared to just a couple of years ago when it tried to compete with Emirates and become a global connector.
