A LoyaltyLobby reader sent us a question about August expiring Marriott Bonvoy free night certificates and whether they will be extended.
You can access Marriott here.
Here’s the email from the reader:
I have emailed Marriott many times with usually no response until recently where I was basically told too bad.
With covid our land borders and some air have been shutdown for more then a year now and we are presently in a lockdown in Ontario Canada where we are the hotspot.
The issue is I have earned and presently have 3 free night stays which expire August 1,2021 and asked for an extension since I can not use before and they know it. Just an extension for future use since in Canada we still do not have our vaccine shots yet and will not until later summer.
I am a Platinum member for life # REMOVED and am very disappointed that Marriott will not grant an extension which is easy on their part?
I am sure there are many members in a similar situation?
Please look into and let me know what you think?
I was in touch with Marriott and was told that there was “nothing to report” right now.
Marriott extended all free night certificates back in December through August 1, 2021.
Whether these certificates will be extended or not is up in the air. I would say that is a fifty-fifty chance.
Perhaps Marriott Bonvoy could and should be market-specific? Life is quite normal in several countries, while the epidemic is ravaging in others.
The vaccination of the world’s population is ongoing.
