American Airlines Buy & Gift AAdvantage Miles Up To 50% Bonus Through May 31, 2021

American Airlines has launched a new offer to purchase or gift AAdvantage miles up to a 50% bonus through May 31, 2021.

A while back, American Airlines upped the number of miles you can buy before any bonuses to 150,000 every calendar year. The account that purchases or receives the miles must have been open for a minimum of 30 days.

The price of a mile under this offer at the highest bonus is 2.15 cents each.

The lowest price that American has sold its miles in the past year has been 1.72 cents each.

Conclusion

The price for the miles under this offer is high, and unless you need miles right now for a specific purpose, I would wait for a better offer to come around.

Right now, I consider buying miles not a very good investment unless there is an immediate opportunity to redeem something that you can surely fly (no restrictions).
