United Airlines on Friday remembered that it has MileagePlus Premier members who are living outside of the United States and who may have difficulty flying on the airline’s metal in 2021.
United credits all MileagePlus Premier members outside of the 50 states of the United States as of January 1, 2021, four United flight segments required to reach a status with the airline when crediting mostly partner flights.
You can access United here.
Here’s a copy of the email that United sent:
United Airlines launched a Pick Your Path offer that allows Premier-member to choose their preferred bonus.
United lowered elite qualification requirements for 2021.
When United launched the Pick Your Path offer (see above) on Thursday, I noted that the airline might have to do more for Premier members outside of the United States if they wish to retain them.
Travel bans and restrictions are still in place in many markets that United serves internationally, and this crediting of four UA segments helps some members, but not all. They may have to extend the tier of those Premier members living outside of the United States for an additional year.
Although United sent this email to me, as a Million Miler with associated lifetime Premier Gold, I have no plans of crediting Star Alliance flights into the program due to recent changes on its award charts that have made the program noncompetitive.
