Air Canada made changes to its Aeroplan program in 2021 to allow members to earn 25K status merely by shopping and other eligible non-flight activities starting this year.
We got word from Air Canada late this week that they have begun rolling out to “Everyday Status Qualification” tracker to member accounts. This should be completed in the next couple of weeks for activities since the beginning of the year.
You can access Aeroplan’s page for status qualification here.
Here are a couple of screenshots that Aeroplan shared with us:
Here’s a note from Aeroplan:
If a member earns 100,000 points through eligible transactions during a calendar year, they’ll earn Aeroplan 25K Status through the following year. Most partner earning activities will count towards Everyday Status Qualification.
However, as announced last year, and similar to Aeroplan silver, black and diamond status in the past, certain Aeroplan points are ineligible for Everyday Status Qualification. This includes sign up / welcome bonuses for Aeroplan credit cards, contest bonusing, and points purchased, gifted, or transferred. Click here for more information.
Here’s the Aeroplan’s small print:
Please note that while the Everyday Status Qualification tracker is live, retroactive balances from January 1, 2021 to present, may not show on your dashboard until the end of May 2021.
Points obtained through sign-up or welcome bonuses associated with Aeroplan credit cards, through conversion from other programs, accumulated as a benefit of Aeroplan Elite Status, including but not limited to the Aeroplan Elite Status bonus with partner airlines, or bonuses earned through the Aeroplan eStore for holding Aeroplan Elite Status, accumulated as part of a flight activity not operated by Air Canada, Canadian North, Air Creebec or the Star Alliance member airlines, purchased, or received as a gift, transferred between member accounts, reinstated following account inactivity, redeemed as part of a Points + Cash reservation or accumulated as part of contest prizes, or for participating in Aeroplan research are not eligible
Aeroplan 25K Benefits:
Aeroplan here tries to get members to credit various non-flying activities to the program by offering a carrot (25K Status).
Perhaps it works for some, like the previous Aeroplan’s own tier levels when the program was part of Aimia.
