Understood that renewing Ambassador by July 31 and stay by Aug 31 will earn one free night (up to 40,000 points). But just want to make sure that,

– If I renew let’s say on May 25 for current membership expiring on Aug 1 (renewal option is now available) and stay on an ambassador free weekend night rate (which includes one paid night) immediately a few days after renewal (for example on May 28-30), will I still earn the free night or an eligible stay to earn such free night has to take place between the expiration of the current membership and Aug 31?

– Next question, my current weekend night certificate expires on Aug 1, that means I need to check out on Aug 1 to use it, or the weekend stay can check out on Aug 2 which includes the night of Aug 1.

The eligible stay can be immediately after the reader has renewed their Ambassador membership for earning the free night award under this promotion.

The website indicates that you must “redeem” the certificate by its expiry date.

The rate rules, however, are more transparent.

Ambassador Complimentary Weekend Night: Valid on the second night of a paid stay on the Ambassador Weekend Rate. The full cost of all booked nights will be displayed upon your reservation, but the second weekend night will be credited to your bill at check-in when a valid ID and IHG® Rewards Club number are presented. This special rate is available for Ambassador and Royal Ambassadors, only with a valid complimentary night benefit that is not expired or already redeemed. Reservations must be cancelled at least 48 hours prior to the day of check-in in order to avoid a cancellation fee. Excludes Resort, Destination, or Amenity fees.

The certificate must still be valid during your stay and not redeemed earlier. As long as the certificate is valid on the date you check-in, the hotel should accept it (the second night is credited when checking in).
