Thai Airways, a flag carrier currently going through a bankruptcy reorganization in Thailand, has decided to extend miles expiring in 2021 and 2022.
Royal Orchid Plus (ROS) members have time to use their miles through the end of 2023 unless the airline ceases to exist, an unlikely albeit not impossible scenario.
You can access Thai’s page for mileage expiry extension here.
Here’s the information that Thai Airways has released:
Members who have expired miles in any quarter of 2021 and 2022, these miles will be extended for award redemption until 31 December 2023. This is an automatic process, no further action by members is required, so you do not need to contact us for extending validity of the miles.
We hope the above extension can provide an ample time for your plan. If you wish to redeem some miles, currently we have THAI and THAI Smile air awards, as well as some lifestyle awards within Thailand for your options, click here.
We look forward to having you on board THAI once again in the near future.
I am glad that Thailand’s flag carrier has decided to do the right thing and extend all the miles through the end of 2023, although why expire them in the first place? Well. We all know why.
It is tricky for the airline and its management to navigate Thai Airways through the process. Thailand needs to chip in, too, if they prefer the airline sticking around and not folding.
