England Removes Portugal From Green List & Adds Seven To Red

England today updated its Green, Amber, and Red countries list that is valid from 4 AM next Tuesday (June 8). There are no additions to the Green, although there were hopes for more holiday destinations opening up for Brits to visits without having to quarantine upon return.

Portugal is moving from Green to Amber (self-quarantine required) and seven countries from Amber to Red (10-night mandatory hotel quarantine).

You can access the UK’s page for Covid-19 and travel here.

Conclusion

It was quite a blow to the holiday hopes to many Brits that Portugal was removed from the Green list and placed at Amber where mandatory self-quarantine is required with a Test to Release possibility at the day 5.

Brits are allowed to travel to any country they are allowed to enter, but there could be consequences at the Amber and Red countries in regards to your travel insurance validity and the requirement of self or hotel quarantine upon return.

England plans to revisit the list of GREEN countries every three weeks or so, so there is some hope that popular European summer destinations such as Spain, France, Italy, Cyprus, and Greece would be added at some point.

Considering that you need two or probably three negative Covid-19 PCR-RT tests traveling for leisure purposes, even when for GREEN countries, it is relatively expensive for the masses.
