A LoyaltyLobby reader left us a question regarding the daily F&B credit per person we covered yesterday (read more here).
Here’s the message from the reader:
I just read your article re. $10 elite breakfast being for member (I am Titanium) plus one.
My wife and I stayed for 5 days in Courtyard Jacksonville in May and in June of this year and only got one $10 coupon per day.
Should I ask for the compensation? Extra coupon? ( as we will be in the area til August) and if so who? the Hotel or Marriott directly?
The hotel obviously dropped the ball and didn’t honor the Platinim and nigher member Daily F&B credit of $10 per person per day for up to two.
The T&Cs are clear. The $10 daily credit is for the Member + 1:
Here’s what I would do:
1. Open a case with Marriott Customer service, briefly explaining that the hotel refused to give $20 daily F&B credit, but rather only one contradictory to the program T&Cs.
2. Request 10,000 Marriott Bonvoy points as compensation that cost the hotel roughly $50. Don’t settle for anything less.
I would not settle for any extras on the next stay because there is no guarantee that those extras will be in place, and I would keep the issues separate.
Marriott affiliated hotels used to be very professional, providing the benefits associated with the status. Still, now many just don’t give an F%$# anymore, and there is a minimal follow-up about the compliance from the corporate.
The hotel owes the reader 10,000 Marriott Bonvoy points for the inconvenience or a check for $50.
