American Airlines & World Of Hyatt “Step Up Your Status” Fast Track Promotion, Register By September 30, 2021

American Airlines and World of Hyatt have a new promotion that touches on their existing partnership with reciprocal benefits and now allows Hyatt Elite Tier members to fast track to a higher American Airlines level and vice versa.

American Airlines Elite Tiers can likewise match (to Explorist) and then fast track towards a higher level with World of Hyatt which might be very lucrative for some.

When utilizing this this promotion eligible Hyatt Discoverist, Explorist and Globalist members are able to fast track towards AAdvantage Gold, Platinum, or Platinum Pro status. Those AAdvantage members who currently have the same or higher status likely won’t see any eligible promotion to enroll (re-qualify).

The campaign started yesterday, July 13th 2021 but you don’t have to start it right away as you have until September 30, 2021 for registration and then another 90 days to complete the challenge/fast track.

You can access this promotion on American Airlines website here (your accounts promotional section).

A friend sent me this from his account:

Register by September 30, 2021, and complete the qualifying activity below within 3 months of registering and you’ll enjoy AAdvantage® Platinum Pro elite status through January 2023:

Earn $700 Elite Qualifying Dollars (EQDs) and either 6,000 Elite Qualifying Miles (EQMs) or 7 Elite Qualifying Segments (EQSs) for Gold status
Earn $1,500 EQDs and either 12,000 EQMs or 14 EQSs for Platinum status
Earn $2,300 EQDs and either 18,000 EQMs or 21 EQSs for Platinum Pro status

He doesn’t have any status with AAdvantage right now and his account were not previously linked. These offers may vary.

Likewise World of Hyatt has a landing page for the campaign here.

I wasn’t displayed anything considering I’m both Hyatt Globalist and Executive Platinum with AAdvantage after receiving Exec Plat from my Hyatt Concierge through a previous promotion. My Hyatt account showed eligibility but I’m already requalified with 31 nights.

From the looks of it and based on some social media travel groups I’m in it seems that the offer for most members is:

  • Maintain World of Hyatt Explorist status -> earn 10 qualifying nights
  • Earn World of Hyatt Globalist status -> stay 20 qualifying nights

Any Hyatt Milestone Bonuses such as free nights and upgrades aren’t applicable.

While certainly a nice way to earn status with Hyatt remember Hyatt allows members to qualify for Globalist with 30 nights this year. You’d earn one milestone award at the 30th night (and some rather useless Club Access Awards beforehand).

Hyatt also had a double nights promotion early on this year so this would have been a much easier way to qualify and I believe there is more coming until the end of 2021.

For some reason it doesn’t seen to be possible to see the offer first without registering. This is a bit impractical as the most sensible thing to do would be to time the registration properly.

Conclusion

Hyatt and American Airlines emphasize on their partnership they started a few years ago which already allows simultaneous collection of points/miles for spend on the other partner through a double dipping system.

Now members can register for a free status upgrade and tier challenge promotion that allows them to earn status on either partner more easily. I bet both American and Hyatt are bleeding as a result of the pandemic and try their very best to drive customer engagement. Let’s see how this translates into revenue and if the companies are able to deliver the elite benefits during daily operation once the numbers swell.

These are the Terms & Conditions for this promotion:

To qualify for this offer, you must be an AAdvantage® Gold, Platinum, Platinum Pro, or Executive Platinum member who has already successfully linked your AAdvantage® account to your World of Hyatt® account (“Eligible Member”). To participate in this offer, Eligible Members must register between July 13 and September 30, 2021 through the dedicated offer registration page provided by Hyatt.

Upon registration, the Eligible Member will receive a trial upgrade to Explorist status for 90 days (“Explorist Trial Period”). The trial will provide the member with the benefits of Explorist status, as set forth in the World of Hyatt program terms, provided that the member will not receive any Club Lounge Access Awards (as defined in the World of Hyatt program terms) or be eligible to tier match into Gold status with M life Rewards, the loyalty program of MGM Resorts International, as part of the trial. To maintain Explorist status through February 2023, the member must complete ten (10) Tier-Qualifying Nights (as defined in the World of Hyatt program terms) at any participating Hyatt hotels and resorts worldwide and participating M life Rewards destinations, Small Luxury Hotels of the World (“SLH”) hotels, and Lindblad Expeditions. If member completes at least twenty (20) Tier-Qualifying Nights at any participating Hyatt hotels and resorts worldwide and participating M life Rewards destinations, Small Luxury Hotels of the World (“SLH”) hotels, and Lindblad Expeditions during his or her Explorist Trial Period, member will receive Globalist status through February 2023.

Only Tier-Qualifying Nights completed by the member during the member’s Trial Explorist Period will count toward this offer. Stays completed by the member prior to the start of his/her Trial Explorist Period will not count towards this offer (even if any night stayed otherwise qualifies as a Tier-Qualifying Night). Further, in order for Tier-Qualifying Nights completed during the member’s Explorist Trial Period to count toward this offer, the member must check out of his or her reservation during his or her Explorist Trial Period. If member checks into a reservation during his or her Explorist Period, but does not check out until after the Explorist Trial Period has ended, no nights stayed as part of that reservation will count toward this offer. Explorist Trial Period begins at registration and may not be extended. World of Hyatt Credit Card night credits do not qualify as Tier-Qualifying Nights.

If the member earns Explorist or Globalist status through February, 2023 by completing the criteria above, his/her new status will be applied within 7 business days of checkout of the stay during which (s)he completes the applicable requirement.

Limit one such offer each calendar year per Eligible Member except as otherwise provided. Hyatt reserves the right to alter or withdraw this offer at any time without notice. This offer is subject to the complete terms and conditions of the World of Hyatt program, available at worldofhyatt.com/terms.  Additional American Airlines terms and conditions apply, including the AAdvantage® terms and conditions and American Airlines’ terms and conditions relating to the AAdvantage® and World of Hyatt promotion.
