This week I’d like to highlight once again the American Express “Amex Offers” that members can activate in their accounts and that allows them to save on daily spending.
American Express adds these offers to members account on an almost daily basis (up to 100 at any given time) and replenishes them when they are either expired or a member activates individual offers.
These days there are a lot of travel related offers available and it pays off to have a detailed look at them before going on a trip.
Savings can range from a certain US$ amount to a points multiplier. For most offers a certain spend threshold is required.
Here are some offers I currently have on my account:
Usually I just add any travel related offer to my account no matter if I intend to use it or not. In the best case an opportunity will arise, worst case I make space for new offers to appear the following day.
Here is one offer I had for Marriott that I used last week:
The offer was to spend $200 or more with Marriott (multiple transactions ok) until the end of the month to get $40 back. Last weekend I stayed in Los Angeles and took the opportunity to stay at the Sheraton Grand. I didn’t like the price of $210/night very much but the $40 cash back made it bearable.
Conclusion
These American Express offers are quite attractive at times and it’s always worth having a look at them. Key is – as always – to not give into the advertising effect of these promotions and spend money you otherwise wouldn’t have spent.
For common, everyday purchases adding these bonus offers can save a decent amount of money over the year or in the least add a few more points to the account.
