Marriott has always offered, at least as long as I have been a member – 20 or so years, Elite Benefit Guarantees for its loyalty program members.
Hotels that fail to offer you a welcome amenity choice, walk you to another hotel, or don’t provide breakfast or alternative must provide the compensation on the spot in cash. , Marriott has now clarified certain benefits.

Updated Guaranteed Platinum Elite/Titanium Elite Welcome Gift-Benefit:
1. Marriott has added the following disclaimer at the bottom:

It could refer that these benefits are only available for eligible stays etc.
2. Marriott has also changed some wording from DAY to PER NIGHT. However, it only clarifies, i.e., that the hotel doesn’t need to offer you breakfast on the day of arrival if it is still served when you check-in.
3. Marriott has written out clearly the regions that previously were shortened.

Marriott temporarily halted these benefit guarantees last year but reintroduced them earlier in 2021.
You can get some pushback first, but usually, dealing with a front desk manager or loyalty champion resolves the issue. I tend to negotiate the compensation in points instead of cash (better for me and easier for the hotel to process).
