Over the past ten days, I have received two pre-arrival emails from Hilton informing me that the reservations have been upgraded.
I noted that I had not previously received similar emails from Hilton and was in touch with their spokesperson if this was a new feature. Additionally, Hilton once trialed confirmed suite upgrades back in 2019.

Here’s a statement we received from the Hilton spokesperson:
Hilton Honors is committed to providing members with value and flexibility through innovative benefits and rewards. We know members’ preferences and trends evolve, so we continuously strive to offer more of what our members want and show our appreciation for their loyalty.
As an enhancement to Hilton Honors’ complimentary, space-available upgrade benefit, we recently began testing a new member experience across a small number of hotels globally, which will secure and notify the member of a complimentary room upgrade 72-hours prior to arrival.
This will allow for a greater contactless arrival experience, and provides another opportunity to celebrate and show appreciation for our members. The best way to inform program innovations like this is to test them, and we look forward to sharing additional information soon.

Another Email From Hilton: We’re upgrading your upcoming stay!
Conclusion
Processing upgrades before the stay begins allows members to use the app check-in functionality and potentially bypass the front desk. However, I still believe that it is good to get to know some of the people working at the hotel.
These pre-stay upgrade emails have now come from two Hilton-affiliated hotels in the Netherlands; DoubleTree Amsterdam Centraal Station and Hilton Rotterdam.
It makes you wonder if this is only trialed at some of the hotels in Europe, or have readers received similar emails in the Americas or Asia-Pacific?
