World of Hyatt has introduced several programs to help its elite members qualify for their existing or higher status in 2021 despite the relatively restricted travel restrictions in many of the markets it operates.
There is online chatter that some would have seen their membership extended through February 2023 without meeting the requirements, but this may be just a misunderstanding on the members’ part.
Rollover From 2020
Hyatt was rolling over all the nights consumed October 1 – January 4, 2021, into 2021, counting them essentially twice (for both 2020 and 2021)
Reduced Qualification Requirements 2021:
World of Hyatt slashed status requirements by 50% for 2021.
Qualified Based on 2020 Activity
I had 49 nights rolling over from 2020 into 2021, essentially qualifying through February 2023 in 2020.
So, I am not sure if some members are merely confused with rollovers and reduced elite qualification requirements or if Hyatt has extended some members through 2023 without meeting any of the requirements?
It would not surprise me if they did this in markets, if not for everyone, most affected by Covid-19 travel restrictions, such as some countries in Asia (Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Thailand, etc.).
Has your World of Hyatt status been extended without meeting any of the criteria through February 2023?
