New York’s LaGuardia airport (LGA) has been through major renovations since Spring 2016, involving the complete demolition of the 1964 old building, to be replaced with a brand new terminal, planned to be finished by 2022.
Yesterday, I happened to transit through part of the new building (construction is still going on) and I was absolutely surprised and stunned by the renovation.
As I menrioned, there’s still major construction work going on and some of the old gates are still operational (the ones used by American Airlines), but the new terminal is defintely looking good. from high ceilings to spacious dining and shopping areas passing through a water fountain dancing to “New York, New York”, this new terminal is quite something. Take a look at some of the pictures I snapped!
This was a long needed facelift! The old LGA terminal was old, dark and cramped, and a great city like New York definitely deserves better! They still have to finish a good part of the gates but the main building seems ready to roll! Loved the artwork, the references to the city landmarks and the dancing fountain is quite the attraction!
Have you transit through the new terminal yet? We would love to hear your thoughts!!!!
