American Express has just rolled out a rather massive amount of Membership Rewards transfer bonuses for September where members can benefit from up to 40% extra when transferring points to partners.
A total of twelve partners including Air Canada, Air France, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic are currently offering bonuses between 15-40%.
American Express offers these bonus conversions on a revolving basis throughout the year and in various countries (different transfer conditions apply to each countries Membership Rewards program so check your personal offers online).
These are the transfer offers current displayed under my account:
The partners & bonuses are:
- Aer Lingus 40%
- Aeromexico 25%
- Aeroplan 20%
- Avianca LifeMiles 15%
- AirFrance Flying Blue 25%
- British Airways Executive Club 40%
- Hawaiian Airlines 25%
- Hilton Honors 30%
- Iberia Plus 40%
- Marriott Rewards 30%
- Qantas Frequent Flyer 20%
- Virgin Atlantic 30%
Some are very profitable with a 30-40% bonus but generally speaking I don’t recommend transferring points into programs where points have a set expiration or that are volatile in terms of frequent award chart changes (Lifemiles).
If you don’t have you membership number added yet you need to scroll all the way to the bottom of the partner page to see the offer for hotel partner programs.
The promotion for most of these partners is good until September 30th (check individual offers).
I wish that Amex would offer a bonus for ANA Mileage Club but I’ve never seen that being offered before.
You can now move your Amex Membership Rewards points to a total of twelve partners and get an additional transfer bonus for the month of September.
It’s unprecedented that Amex has such an avalanche of partner offers live within one month. We’ve seen in the past that they’re dropping a few here and there, then none for a whole quarter but this is solid.
