Not sure what I should think about the email that American Express sent to me and many others in the Nordics this week regarding their Centurion product.
Amex says that I am a few of the “privileged” invited to apply for this card that costs €3,500 per year plus an initial fee of €3,500. Unfortunately, the email is very light on details of what benefits are included.
Here’s the email I received (Google translate to English):
Conclusion
It is challenging to think of any benefits worth €7,000 for me in the first year and €3,500 on subsequent ones unless they throw in a significant number of Membership Rewards points and perhaps waive the initial fee altogether.
I don’t care what the card’s color is, whether it is plastic or metal, or who the issuer is. The cost, fees, and rewards program are of significance, however.
Not sure why Amex even sent this email to me? I used the card a lot more in the past, but due to their high FX fee for purchases in non-Euro countries, there are months in which I hardly use it at all.
I am eager to learn the rare benefits of the Centurion Lifestyle Program that could justify the price tag and are genuinely beneficial to me.
