This week the Compensation Clinic series visits the Hilton Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport that I have stayed at several times without issues, but there were two on my most recent stay.

Here’s what went wrong:
1. AC Insufficient
The room was way too hot when I got in. I turned the AC to the max with the lowest possible temperature, and there was hardly any cool air coming out.
I waited for few minutes, and nothing was happening with the in-room temperature. I picked up the phone and asked to speak with the MoD.
Apparently, this is a known issue at this hotel, and I was given a new room promptly that was already cool when I got in.
2. Check-out
Somehow my rate had tripled from the one that I had booked. The agent at the front desk just said that it was the rate I had booked that I counterargued and asked him to look at the reservation history.
He then realized that the rate difference issue, but he couldn’t adjust it. So why do they have a person working at the front desk who cannot fix billing issues?
He had to get Front Desk Manager to deal with the problem, and I was becoming somewhat irritated at this point, as I had a car waiting.
I told the lady that I would open a case with Guest Assistance regarding these two issues. She said that she could deposit 10,000 points for the inconveniences that I agreed.
Conclusion
It seems that this Hilton has issues with the AC based on the cursory look I had afterward on TripAdvisor and Google. So perhaps not the best idea to allocate the hot rooms for Diamond members?
I’m not particularly eager to waste my time due to the poor maintenance of the hotel and improperly trained employees. So it is time to try out another hotel in CDG when I have an overnight transit next time.
The rate increase is likely due to the room change on the previous night. The MoD didn’t correctly move the reservation with the booked rate but instead pulled up a current one for the upgraded room type.
Also, the hotel’s executive lounge is still closed. They plan to reopen it once they hit a roughly 60% occupancy rate.
