Last week I wrote about the unique opportunity to match various U.S. based frequent flyer programs to Air Canada Aeroplan, all the way up to their coveted Super Elite level.
I applied on September 27th on a brand new account and my tier level just got upgraded today (October 2nd) to Aeroplan Gold 75K.
Members are encouraged to submit their credentials (image of the frequent flyer card or photograph of the online account) via the promotional website – the campaign is only available for a limited number of submissions.
You can see my article from last week here including the steps required to process the match.
It’s very unique that Air Canada not only offers a status match but that it’s also available for the coveted Super Elite tier for those applicants with American Airlines Concierge Key and Delta 360. United Airlines isn’t being matched as they are a Star Alliance carrier.
You can access the campaign website here (the application will be handled by statusMatch.com).
It took about 5 days – just like advised on the landing page – for the status to be reflected online:
I opened a new account because I haven’t used my old one that I had in the early 2000s in forever and couldn’t reset the password properly without having to contact the help desk.
The match indeed comes with full benefits for the respective tier level (75K in this case as matched from AA Executive Platinum):
I haven’t decided yet what to pick for my benefits. Probably the upgrade credits and the 75% bonus points but I haven’t made the final decision yet. I don’t think I have a friend who can use the 35K level until years end.
Under this campaign members will have their status matched through December 31, 2021 during which – in order to retain the tier level through December 31, 2022 – the member must book as well as fly one roundtrip with Air Canada that’s eligible for Aeroplan points collection by January 15, 2022 (meaning award flights won’t count).
Keep in mind that if you fly between January 1-15 you will temporarily lose your status and all associated benefits for several days. It would therefore be advisable to get this round trip in while the status is still active.
Air Canada has processed my status match within 5 days of submitting my request and details through the respective tier match website.
The site is operated by statusmatch.com and they do have the ability to verify the information you send in (likely because all of these airlines are partners of the service so they verify each others requests). Since we’ve received a lot of request that hint people want to try some funny business such as photoshopping information, all I can say is don’t do it. You might lose both accounts in the process based of fraudulent activity.
